House of Ubuntu was founded in 2024 by Rosalie Herik and Mark van Uum. With this foundation, we bring a mission to life: to create a place where the ambitions and talents of people in South Africa are truly seen and heard.

Vision
House of Ubuntu was born out of a passion for supporting people from (vulnerable) communities, so they can discover and utilize their talents and potential.
At House of Ubuntu, we believe in a future where everyone in South Africa has the chance to grow and achieve their dreams. With the Ubuntu principle – “I am because we are” – as the foundation.
We help each other by exchanging knowledge and skills, thus creating the opportunities needed to strengthen both individual lives and communities.

At House of Ubuntu, we want to create a place where the ambitions and talents of people in South Africa are seen and heard. We provide people with the tools to move forward, develop themselves, and turn ideas into action.
By focusing on education, personal growth, and entrepreneurship, we hope that people will not only improve their own future but also strengthen the community around them. We achieve this through various educational programs and collaborations with local and international partners.

Rosalie Herik
Chairman, Connector, Inspirer, Motivator
Rosalie has had a deep connection with South Africa for eight years. She combines experience in community work and entrepreneurship with her passion: seeing the good in every person and bringing it out. As a psychologist and trainer, she connects people and helps individuals realize their full potential. With her commitment, Rosalie creates opportunities for growth.
Mark van Uum
Treasurer, Visionary, Innovator, Strategic thinker
Mark has been living his passion for South Africa for ten years. Inspired by the resilience of local communities, he helps others grow with his knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship. With a listening ear and creativity, he provides value where needed. Mark takes care of the financial health of the foundation and builds a solid foundation for our mission.
Esther Gierveld
Secretary & Storyteller
Esther brings an infectious energy with her talent for content creation and intercultural communication. Her keen perspective and enthusiasm inspire others. In doing so, Esther strengthens our impact within the communities we support.
